Dear
Students:
Beginning in 2002, Kingsborough Community College entered into a partnership with the Department of Education in an initiative now called "Career Pathways" (formerly called "Tech Prep"), a college and career education and preparation program in six high schools in Brooklyn. Those schools are Canarsie, Clara Barton, John Dewey, Lafayette, New Utrecht and Sheepshead Bay High School. As of this year (2007), we are also talking with Channel View, William Grady, and Rachel Carson High Schools with the hope and intention that they will be part of our program beginning in 2008. Career Pathways graduates are better prepared for college. Once in college, our students are more likely to stay in school, have higher grade point averages, and are more likely to graduate. Those students who choose employment immediately after high school enter high-demand, high-wage, technical professions with better qualifications than their peers. Many of them also wind up coming back to college to continue their education. We look forward to working with you and your school so that your Career Pathways experience is worthwhile.
